Dear peeps! It has been so long! How are you all doing!

We have been absent for almost a year on this MEP page. How time flies. When C hit and the measures influenced our lives as entrepreneurs we had to rearrange some stuff. We did not sit still though. Maartje moved to another city, published an amazing vegan baking book Taart ende Koeck and got pregnant ;-). Lisette co-wrote the book DOG.EAT.PLANT., became part of the rescue operation and project @mymomsam and unfortunately lost her biggest friend in the whole world, Mr. Pooh. WHAT.A.JOURNEY. Life is just miraculous and everything always changes.

PORTOBELLO ‘PROSCIUTTO’

Melon coexists perfectly with smoky, savoury flavors. Melon gives an umami-like aftertaste and therefore works wonderfully with a savoury component. The smoked portobello is very tasty (get yourself a little stovetop smoker for Christmas!), and the crispy, cheeselike wafers and sweet-sour balsamic vinegar make all ingredients come together beautifully. This dish is a perfect, not too heavy start of your Christmas dinner and perfect for all those meat lovers out there. They will surely love these recognizable flavors. Combine this starter with our CRUSTED SMOKY TOFU PLATTER as main dish and CHOCOLATE VOLCANO CAKES as dessert.

Surprise! We made you a whole TG menu, starring Mr. Pumpkin as the star player. From mouth-watering pumpkin fritters, to a stuffed centrepiece and a mega-indulgent pumpkin pie. Saying THANKS is a big thing, do it good and make it count for all beings. Because the only thing we have to stuff is our face and the only thing we have to give is kindness. So step up your game and let this year be the year that you once and for all transform those Holiday feasts into cruelty free parties, rich in plants and free from animals! The real spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas on your plate.

And it is also almost one year already since our book MAN.EAT.PLANT. got published. We can definitely say that we made many people very happy and belly filled and helped many to upgrade their plant powered cooking skills.

FISHY EGGPLANT

Eggplant is one of the most served veggies for vegetarians and vegans in restaurants. Amazingly enough though it is also one of the most misunderstood and poorly prepared vegetables. This should not be the case. Eggplant is a beastly veggie with a bizarre flavour and texture potential. You just have to know how to handle it. Hence this recipe. Especially for the former fish lovers, this is probably a very special taste experience. You can give the eggplant a surprisingly sea-ish taste by smoking it. The silky smooth structure of eggplant in combination with the smoky flavour makes this an amazing delicacy. Serve on toasted sourdough bread with arugula, avocado and vegan mayo.

BOUDIN NOIR + ‘STAMPPOT’

This recipe is featured in the MAN.EAT.PLANT. book, but it’s too epic not to share with you international folks! Almost every European country (or even region) has their own version of a Boudin Noir or black pudding. With this future proof and bleed free variety the disgusting classic horror sausage will be swept off the map. It consists of ‘bloody’ black rice (no kidding, the cooking liquid will turn into a bloody red juice with mineral flavour), oats and lots of spices, just like a traditional black pudding. Delectable with all kinds of mashes, like Dutch ‘stamppot’ (recipe included), or as burger on a bun. You HAVE to give this one a try.
