Drum rolls, please!

FAMILY.EAT.PLANT. has hit planet Earth and here is the first recipe to go online! And certainly not the least! Yes, we know, what you see here in the pic looks suspiciously like a sandwich with sunny-side-up eggs. But none of that! What you see are peaches (or apricots) with a cheesy sauce. Maartje’s father used to make this recipe often on the weekend. Super easy, super yummy. You can keep it plain and simple by just making the cheesy sauce, and prep the toast with the sauce and peaches, or you can go wild and throw some slices of vegan ham on there.

If you’ve ever been to country’s like Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico you probably know this comfy corn staple food. It’s a cornflour patty (in between bread and pancake) and you can eat it with all kinds of toppings like avocado, vegan cheese and plant meat. We made this avo-carnitas variety which is utterly delicious! You can use our pulled mushroom or pulled jackfruit recipe, both are delicious!

PORTOBELLO ‘PROSCIUTTO’

Melon coexists perfectly with smoky, savoury flavors. Melon gives an umami-like aftertaste and therefore works wonderfully with a savoury component. The smoked portobello is very tasty (get yourself a little stovetop smoker for Christmas!), and the crispy, cheeselike wafers and sweet-sour balsamic vinegar make all ingredients come together beautifully. This dish is a perfect, not too heavy start of your Christmas dinner and perfect for all those meat lovers out there. They will surely love these recognizable flavors. Combine this starter with our CRUSTED SMOKY TOFU PLATTER as main dish and CHOCOLATE VOLCANO CAKES as dessert.

THE KIND EMPANADA

Do you remember empanadas? Those lovely South American hand pies stuffed with savoury goodness? Only we made a better version by choosing the plant based ingredients that are just as savory and satisfying as the ‘classic’ ones, but much kinder for you, the world and all animals. The stuffing consists of green olives, apple, bell pepper and a vegan bechamel sauce which binds the ingredients surprisingly well. And the dough… oh la la…it’s so flaky and buttery and super easy to make! They are best eaten just after frying them (let cool down for a bit so you don’t burn your mouth ;)).
