MEDITERRANEAN ORZO

This delicious orzo dish with roasted vegetables takes little time to make and is bursting with flavour. The tuna-like flavour of Good Catch Fish Free Tuna goes well with savoury flavour bombs like olives and capers, and the creamy orzo provides an excellent stage for this goodness.

While we are up here we wanted to thank all of you who have been cooking from MAN.EAT.PLANT. We never expected this book to be such a hit, but it is. Three years in and the publisher is still re-printing and the other day MAN.EAT.PLANT. reached number 1 in the top 10 of Best Vegan Books. We are blown away by all the awesome compliments and seeing many of you enjoying the recipes. So again thank you so much!

FESTIVE PANCAKE PIE

FAMILY.EAT.PLANT. holds a special place in our hearts. We wrote it for all kinds of families and we celebrated our own: those who enrich our lives, those who are no longer with us and those who would still come. Meanwhile, Maartje has given birth to a beautiful, healthy boy and Lisette celebrates the beautiful memories of Pooh that warm her heart every day.

And to celebrate that Maartje just became a mother, we wanted to share this delicious recipe from our book by our dear friend Anouk.

Anouk, the mother of 5, likes to make this festive pancake pie for her children and they love it! Of course, you can also use the basis of this recipe to make a regular stack of pancakes. The different flours make for a great batter.

Drum rolls, please!

FAMILY.EAT.PLANT. has hit planet Earth and here is the first recipe to go online! And certainly not the least! Yes, we know, what you see here in the pic looks suspiciously like a sandwich with sunny-side-up eggs. But none of that! What you see are peaches (or apricots) with a cheesy sauce. Maartje’s father used to make this recipe often on the weekend. Super easy, super yummy. You can keep it plain and simple by just making the cheesy sauce, and prep the toast with the sauce and peaches, or you can go wild and throw some slices of vegan ham on there.

Dear peeps! It has been so long! How are you all doing!

We have been absent for almost a year on this MEP page. How time flies. When C hit and the measures influenced our lives as entrepreneurs we had to rearrange some stuff. We did not sit still though. Maartje moved to another city, published an amazing vegan baking book Taart ende Koeck and got pregnant ;-). Lisette co-wrote the book DOG.EAT.PLANT., became part of the rescue operation and project @mymomsam and unfortunately lost her biggest friend in the whole world, Mr. Pooh. WHAT.A.JOURNEY. Life is just miraculous and everything always changes.

PUPCAKES

Dear peeps,

We have let our minds wander in regards to the new reality we are finding ourselves in and to say it with the words of Zach Bush (check out his posts!): We ‘strongly believe there is too much bandwidth of the collective human consciousness spent on this topic’ so we are not gonna add anything to that besides a few things:

1. The Dutch Weed Burger just posted an amazing article on their blog that to us says it all.

2. We are not quite sure if we will be able to continue our friday posts during the coming period, but will do our best to offer easy and delicious plant based inspiration, maybe through our stories.

3. Because we see a lot of sadness on social media right now we thought this recipe might cheer you up a bit. Just because a smile can do so much for yourself, your body and the world around you.

We created these Pupcakes in service of World Animal Protection and you can find the recipe here in Dutch. If you need English, Google is your friend ;-). These vegan puppy dogs are worth a translation.

We are doing a vegan tour around the world in flavours and textures. This time we are diving in the fine realm of Indian curry’s. And honestly, although there are many of them and most of them equally delicious we have a preference for Saag Aloo which is loaded with muscle enhancing spinach, chunky potato bits and delicious spices. How we wish scentgram would be a think right now so we could let you smell all the delicious aroma’s filling the MAN.EAT.PLANT. kitchen while cooking this dish.
